Since becoming a fishmonger several months ago, I have learned that there is so much more to know about those sea creatures than I had ever dreamed about. I have been in my own venerable SCHOOL OF FISH at Pierless Fish Corporation, getting to know species, sizing, pricing and more.
“So many fish in the sea”, as they say.
I also found out that one of the perks that comes along with the mongering is being able to land a table for 2 at 8:00PM at the infamous Waverly Inn on Bank Street.
This is my excited and happy face as I enter the teeny tiny doorway underneath the townhouse steps at Ye Waverly Inn. The thing that stuck out most in my mind, is how narrow the doorway was, and how thin the people must have been in the 20’s.
Adding to my delightfully delicious meal was the chance to meet Chef Eric Korsch. Eric, along with his wife Ginevra Iverson, are now in the process of opening their own restaurant, Calliope which will be located at 84 East 4th Street.
