Birmingham Is For Foodies!
Birmingham, Alabama was recently selected as the new location for the offices of Time Inc.’s Food and Wine Magazine. I can honestly say that this is AMAZING, as there are so many wonderful chefs and restaurants that are from this great city!
When the city of Birmingham invited me and a few Food Bloggers on a FAM trip to get a taste of their fair city, they carefully chose some of the BEST FOOD in Birmingham to feed our bellies.
This blog post is about only one of them, but stay tuned for more.
Ovenbird Birmingham Uses No Gas Or Electricity For Cooking?
Ovenbird restaurant, located in the Pepper Place neighborhood of Birmingham, is owned and operated by Chris and Idie Hastings. The completely wood fired menu focuses on small plates and the recipes find inspiration from the live fire traditions from Spain, Portugal, and Argentina to name a few.
They don’t have ANY ELECTRICITY or GAS LINES with which to cook….
Hastings menu is based on small sharable plates.
Yup, desserts were as amazing as the small plates
We bloggers were blessed to be joined by Barry Mcnealy, tour guide at the Civil Rights Institute, one of the most important places to see in the United States.
Ovenbird is located in Pepper Place, next to Charlie and Cindy Thigpen’s Garden Gallery.
