Battery Park City Friends and Neighbors Help Each Other During Hurricane Sandy

Although I live across the West Side Highway, I am fortunate to be an honorary resident of Battery Park City. For the past 11 years I have been the MC of the annual block party and because of that, I am on the email chain that let me know that there was power in Gateway Plaza in all of the buildings except one.

I was alerted by the chain of emails that since this tight knit community ALWAYS rallies for each other, the haves (electricity) were springing into action on Tuesday and were heading off to COSTCO in New Jersey to make sure that the have nots  would be able to eat.

For three days and nights, there were potluck dinners, breakfasts, dinners and water for anyone who needed it.

I love my neighbors!
